Shaken, not stirred.  This immediately identifiable quote from James Bond was selected by the American Film Institute in 2005 as one of the top 100 best movie quotes.  The common word bond has a number of lesser known meanings, but the closest one to Bond’s famous martini order is:

bond n. 100 proof straight whiskey that has been aged a minimum of four years under regulatory supervision.

I’m thinking of a number between 1 and 100…  From the “There’s a Word for That?” file comes today’s word:

bolita n. a numbers game in which the player or players try to guess a two-digit number.  The word comes from Spanish Cuban and refers to a type of lottery played in Cuba and southern Florida in the late 19th and early 20th century in which 100 numbered balls were placed in a sack, which was shaken and then one ball was selected after bets were taken.
